General

CCS operates on a semester schedule, late August-December and mid January-May.  Each semester includes 16 weeks of individual lessons along with 14-16 weeks of group classes.  Students have opportunities to perform in two studio recitals each year as well as a part of a weekly informal performance hour (Performance Lab) in conjunction with Wednesday group classes. An annual group class performance takes place in the spring semester and advanced students have additional group performance and outreach opportunities. The summer session is optional and does not include group class.  Substitute teachers will be assigned by CCS for extended summer teacher absence; lesson organization and payment is coordinated directly with any substitute teachers.

Private Lessons

Each CCS student’s lesson is geared towards their individual learning style and level of playing. Parent participation is required for all students through middle school and encouraged beyond with the level of participation changing as the student grows as an individual and cellist. Private lessons are available in 30, 45 and 60 minute lengths. Lessons take place Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri at the Cleveland Cello School and Wednesdays at Agnew Performance Academy in Beachwood.

Group Classes

Weekly group classes provide motivation, community, and an extra opportunity for technical and musical development. Parent participation is required through Suzuki book 3 level. All classes, from beginner through book 10 and beyond, as well as an adult learners class, take place at Agnew Performance Academy in Beachwood. Group classes are 30-60 minutes in length depending on level. A weekly informal performance time (Performance Lab) is scheduled in conjunction with the Wednesday group schedule.
